Acceptance of these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the MegaCode Studio website and software, which are owned and operated by NCCME Inc. By downloading, installing, or purchasing MegaCode Studio, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the software or website.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and is incorporated into these terms by reference.
The software and your license
MegaCode Studio is a desktop training simulator for cardiac monitoring and resuscitation education, for Mac and Windows. When you purchase MegaCode Studio, you are not buying the software outright — you're purchasing a license to use it, subject to these terms. We retain ownership of the software itself.
Your license covers one active installation at a time. If you get a new computer, you can move your license to it — you don't need to buy a second copy, but you shouldn't run the same license on two machines simultaneously. Licenses are not intended to be shared between different people.
Free trial
MegaCode Studio can be tried free for 30 days with full access to every feature. No credit card is required to start a trial. After the 30-day period, core monitor functionality continues to work indefinitely; scenario building, quick presets, and defibrillator/pacer controls require an activated license to continue using. There's no obligation to purchase after trying it.
Purchases and payment
MegaCode Studio is sold as a one-time purchase — there is no subscription. Checkout is handled by SureCart and payment is processed by Stripe; see our Privacy Policy for more on how that works. Prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated. Optional expansion packs (additional scenario libraries) can be purchased separately at any time and require the Base App.
Refunds
Because MegaCode Studio can be tried free for 30 days before you buy, purchases are generally non-refundable. We'd rather you fully evaluate the software during the trial than need a refund afterward. If you believe you've received a defective or non-functional product, contact us — we'll work with you to resolve it, and nothing here overrides any refund rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
Updates and support
Bug fixes and corrections to already-purchased features are free for as long as you own your license. New features and new expansion packs may be released as separate, optional purchases. We don't guarantee a specific release schedule for updates.
Intellectual property
MegaCode Studio — including its software, design, scenario content, and branding — is our original work and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Purchasing a license doesn't transfer any ownership of this intellectual property to you; it only grants you the right to use the software as described in these terms.
Acceptable use
When using MegaCode Studio, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the software
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share your license key with people outside your own use
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the software for actual clinical decision-making or patient care of any kind
Not a medical device / disclaimer
MegaCode Studio is a training simulator for educational use only. It is not a medical device, is not intended for clinical use on real patients, and should never be used to make actual patient care decisions. The software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or clinical or educational accuracy.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, MegaCode Studio. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the software is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these terms, including the acceptable use restrictions above. If your license is terminated for a violation, you're not entitled to a refund.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time — for example, if we change our refund policy or add a new type of product. We'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continuing to use MegaCode Studio after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
